Great how tos. And comparison s.
Do not subscribe to the paper or digital version of this magazine. They make it very difficult to cancel your subscription, and if you use their trial subscription they will not give you a specific date for when the subscription starts. They will charge you for the subscription and you will not be able to cancel and get your money back. Plus, the magazine is not that good anyway. You can find much for the information on the Internet.
Articles are helpful and insightful, I really do enjoy reading every month. The app and magazine support is useless; countless issues and emails were left unresolved and never responded to except the robo responses... unfortunately going to cancel and see if I can pick up at local newsstand
I don’t want to pay the individual price, I want to subscribe. No way to do it that I’ve found in the app. Pretty poor marketing.
I’ve got two digital mags through Future Pub and both are Great! They download fast, have NO glitches, can be dragged and dropped into the Newstand app with no problem (unlike some other Publisher mags do).
I purchased the subscription and "completed my collection" in purchasing the back issues. Nothing is in my library even after I try to restore my purchases. Wasted my money.
What has happened here is inexcusable. I have paid for single issues, some of which have remained on my account after restoring them and others which I have lost. I refuse to repurchase the lost issues and when I follow the directions given under the "help" category it does not work. Ergo, the "help" is no help at all! There needs to be an immediate update of this app. Those issues were expensive and must be restored completely!
Downloaded my issue fine and began reading it. Then it crashed! Now every time I try to read the mag, it crashes and I'm back in my new stand! Will not be renewing!
Admittedly, if it were not for the fact that the app now crashes every time I attempt to read it, it would be one of my favorites. The content of the magazine/app is well thought out and presented. I learned something every time I opened the app. However, now that the app doesn't work, it's useless. If it improves before my trial runs out, I will update the rating.
Can't download or read my purchased magazine ... Keep losing it .. Even i tried to reload or restart my ipad still not work.
I loved the magazine, back in the days when it would actually download and I could read it. Now I have to wait a through a slow download and then it says it can't be downloaded because I'm not connected to the Internet AFTER it reaches 100%. I am connected to the internet and other magazines work perfectly on my iPad. Obviously I can no longer read the magazine I paid for ... As a yearly subscription I might add! One star for the great magazine I used to look forward to reading.
I learn something new with each issue. For me, this is on my "Must Read" list.
We'll see what they can do with the iphone version which will have its content dilgently censored by the black shirts of Apple. The first of the pieces of this magazine just downloaded and only then was I told the insllation I waited to download would give me only a limited sample of the magazine. This is scumware to say the least and and I will follow up with a report of this deception to as many of the anti malware sites. I will no longer be buying their $16 per issue edition. When will businessmen like this learn that deceiving people with lies will always come back and cost them more than it's worth.
The magazine is very good. Unfortunately the App is really bad. Crashes, can't update, old issues lost, new issues won't download, videos require fast Internet (not satellite), no topic search to find past articles, no support, expensive.
This has been my favorite photography magazine every since I stumbled upon it at my local bookstore . I believe that one cannot find a better mag with the varied content that this magazine has. I highly recommend it.
Best photo mag around. Beats all US magazines. I took a star off because of the cost. No way the digital mag should cost so much.
Very easy read lots of info for great shots at any level
Once you "subscribe" to this "app", you will not be able/permitted to drop it. You will have to continue to pay to "update" this "app" ad infinitum regardless of how many attempts you make to cancel the "app". If you simply refuse to pay them, then Apple won't permit you to update any of the applications that you actually wish to retain and update. Call this what you will, but it is theft in my book (or extortion at a minimum). I am giving this one star simply because Apple does not permit 0 stars.
Another fantastic mag !!
Would like HELP! The app developer does not review emails( only a automated response) I can not restore all purchases and I have followed all troubleshooting steps including reinstalling the app and deleting all other newsstand issues.
Only problem is the file size creates long downloads, but is necessary for the pics to show up clearly
every month i have to re-download all my purchases because the app won't update
There's nothing free about this app. Once it's downloaded, you are shown covers of each issue and a price. It gives you a chance to "look inside" before you pay about $4 each issue but it actually dies not work. They should just tell you it's subscription based to begin with.
Just try and download an issue. This app bombs more than all the other apps combined. I have yet to be able to actually view an issue I have purchased.
I guess I should have read the reviews….What's free???? Can't even open anything!!!! You guys charged me for what….a page????….What a rip off!!!!!
It really makes me wonder how stupid people are. The app is free but you right you have to pay for the subscription. Why would you expect a company to give you a free magazine? Learn to read it says in app purchase. Really people all of you that expect this to be free you are as stupid as box or rocks.
U can't read without zooming in on every piece of text.. Please update it and use the interactive features of iPad..
I installed the free app, then bought the annual subscription and downloaded the first magazine (Nov 2011). This worked fine and it's a great magazine. Now I noticed that the December issue is out, so I tried to download it. Unfortunately, this does not work. The December issue is shown with the "Buy" icon only, for $6.99. I upgraded the app, hoping that might help. The result is that now it does not work at all, it shows "cannot be loaded". Rebooting my iPad did not help either. So now, for the price of one annual subscription, I only got one issue. Update: After deleting the app and installing it again, I got it to work and was able to download the new issue in my subscription. But this meant that all my previous issues were gone, so now I have to download them again.
Too high prices! Better info for free on the web!
Newsstand needs to look up the definition of Free and explain it to the content providers. This has absolutely nothing that if free.
Can anyone tell me once I make my subscription if I am able to get back/ previous issues with the subscription? I know some subscriptions offer this feature of about 3-6 months previous issues, was wondering if this would do the same. Regardless, I'm still going to make this a MUST purchase!!! I will update this review once I make my PURCHASE of this magazine!
Too xpansiv !!!
I've been a huge fan of the print version of this magazine for several years and I'm excited to see a digital version. Every single issue is chock-full of helpful advice, tricks, and tips and this magazine has really helped me develop my skills as a photographer. What I like most is that it's focused more on photography than camera gear. While there are gear reviews and discussions of new products, it's really more about taking pictures instead of buying equipment. Some other photo mags come off as multi-page gear ads more than anything else. Finally, I really can't believe all these people complaining about the content in the newsstand not being free. The apps are free, not the monthly content. To think otherwise is just silly. There's a reason these are called subscription-based services. If you want something free then you should head to the library.
What does free mean?something for nothing!!!you people dont even give a free preview!!!!! Don't waste the space on your phone
Nothing but an advertisement.
I downloaded the newsstand app for free, yes. But, I had to pay to subscribe ($6.99) to view it? So, should it be listed as a "free" app??? Sounds deceptive and misleading. What WAS free was the cover of the magazine.
